Learn how to use filters to analyze respondent data using Snap Survey Software
Snap Survey Software provides the function of filters that users can use to limit the data that is displayed or analyzed. You can filter data so that:
- it only includes the respondents you want (for example, creating a pie-chart showing the sports preferences of Canadian men between the ages of 25 and 35)
- it does not include the people you don’t want (for example, excludes all men who like ice hockey)
- it only includes people who have done things on a certain date or time (for example, watched ice hockey in November)
Filters allow you to limit the data you view. You can use the filter function when analyzing data by filtering it by respondents’ answers to one or more of the questions. You can also filter data by respondents who did or did not reply to certain questions, for example, you can select all respondents who wrote a comment.
Do not lead your respondents toward specific survey answers
When developing survey questions, be sure not to inadvertently lead respondents to answer a question in a particular way or in favor of a particular option. It is important to give respondents all available response options, however, the question and it’s options should not be worded in a way that influences a respondents’ answers.
Well developed surveys eliminate respondent confusion by keeping your survey questions simple and free from ambiguity
When developing you survey, it is important to thoroughly review each of your survey questions. What may appear as a well-written, clear question to you may not appear as well-written and clear to respondents. When you start developing your questions, think about how each question will be read and interpreted by respondents. If time permits, consider pre-testing your survey questions with someone that is not familiar with your survey. Review their completed responses and discuss any issues the respondent may have encountered. It is important that your respondents completely comprehend your survey questions and be able to answer them in the correct manner in order to provide accurate, meaningful data. If the questions are confusing, you run the risk of compromising the accuracy of your survey data.
Avoid over-surveying your customers with these strategies
Surveying your customers is a great way to learn more about customer satisfaction, areas where your products, services, or overall organization needs improvement, perceptions about your brand, and many more. However, over-surveying your customer base can cause a decline in response rates and may also weaken the value of your surveys.

Use quotas in Snap Survey Software to limit the number of respondents in an online survey
There may be times when a specified sample of online survey respondents is required. In this instance, quotas may be used to limit the number of respondents in identified categories. For example, to limit the numbers of males and females completing your online survey, or to limit the numbers in each age group, you can simply set-up a quota.
Once the quota has been reached, further respondents will be routed to the end of the survey. It is recommended that questions used by the quota are placed as close to the beginning of the survey as possible to avoid unnecessary questions be asked. Continue reading
