Working with Columns img1&8This worksheet explains how to setup a multi-column survey in Snap, pictured above. For the purpose of this example we’ll begin with a new survey.

Step 1: Creating the survey

Opening Snap will bring up the Survey Overview window.

  1. Click plus | add to create a new survey.
  2. The Survey Details dialogue appears.

  3. Give the survey a Name and a Title. Choose the language, publication medium, and template used for the first edition in your survey.
  4. Click OK to have Snap create and open the survey.
  5. Once the survey has opened, press the [Enter] key to add a few variables.

  6. Click Save to save the changes.

Step 2: Setting the survey to multiple columns

  1. Click to open the survey’s properties.
  2. Select the Margins section, and set the Columns to 2.

  3. Click OK.
    Note: You may notice that this adjustment and the upcoming Step 3 adjustments have little or no impact on the survey’s layout in Design Mode. This is because Snap doesn’t finalize the column layout until the survey is previewed, later in step 4.

Step 3: Controlling the column layout

  1. Select the Title variables in the survey, and using the Columns selection, ensure that the Full Page option is enabled.

    Note: Disregard the number to the right of the Columns selection as this is a separate feature.

  2. Similarly, select the remaining questions in the survey and ensure that the Full Page option is not enabled.

  3. Click Save to save the changes.

Step 4: Previewing the survey

  1. Select File | Publish to bring up the Publish Questionnaire Dialogue.
  2. Set the Method to Preview Only.
