Setting up surveys for Snap Mobile Anywhere.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Snap Mobile Anywhere<\/strong> allows you to enter responses to a published survey on an Android device (smartphone, tablet etc.).<\/p>\n<p>You must publish an offline edition of the survey in Snap running on a PC desktop.<\/p>\n<p>You can then synchronise your Android device with an account on a server. You add published surveys to the account and they are then downloaded to your device over the Internet. Responses are uploaded to the server.<\/p>\n<p>To do this you need:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A Snap WebHost account. Snap WebHost is Snap&#8217;s online survey management and analysis system.<\/li>\n<li>A<a href=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/survey-software\/offline-interviewing\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> <strong>Snap Mobile Anywhere license<\/strong><\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>A Snap Mobile Anywhere<\/strong> App installed on your Android devices. The free App is available from your devices app store.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You must then:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Publish the <strong>Offline:Tablet<\/strong> edition of your survey.<\/li>\n<li>Upload the published zip file to Snap WebHost.<\/li>\n<li>Log into your account on your Android device.\n<div>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-15868 size-full\" src=\"\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snap11\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/sync_ipad_sm.png\" alt=\"Publishing a survey to Snap WebHost\" width=\"440\" height=\"314\" \/><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>If you are do not have a connection to the internet (for example, you are in a communications blackspot) responses will be stored on the device until they can be uploaded.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><a name=\"o29354\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Background<\/h3>\n<p>You must set up <strong>Snap Mobile Anywhere<\/strong> with:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>researcher account name and license number for Snap WebHost<\/li>\n<li>a list of users and passwords.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>When you open <strong>Snap Mobile Anywhere<\/strong>, it checks to see if there is an internet connection. If so, it logs into the synchronisation service on Snap WebHost and checks for surveys that need downloading. It checks again at regular intervals, so your surveys will be updated automatically.<\/p>\n<p>When a questionnaire is completed, the response is sent up to the synchronisation service. <strong>Snap Mobile Anywhere<\/strong> checks regularly to see if there are responses that need to be synchronised.<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"o29355\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Summary of steps<\/h3>\n<p>This worksheet describes how to use <strong>Snap Mobile Anywhere<\/strong> for an Android device. It assumes that you are adding an offline edition to an existing survey. (This allows you to combine the results from the Android device with the results from a paper questionnaire.)<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Upload your offline survey to Snap WebHost<\/li>\n<li>Start the survey on the Android device<\/li>\n<li>Download the response data and import it into Snap for analysis<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<div>\n<p><a name=\"o29369\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Set up Snap Mobile Anywhere on your Android device<\/h3>\n<p>These instructions assume that you are setting up <strong>Snap Mobile Anywhere<\/strong> on a single Android device. This is whatever you have set it up to be, e.g. HDPassword<\/td>\n<td width=\"144\">Set using the <strong>Snap Mobile Anywhere<\/strong> Config Utility or when <strong>Snap Mobile Anywhere<\/strong> is first used<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/li>\n<li>When you have finished entering your details, click <strong>[OK]<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><a name=\"o29358\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Create and publish a tablet survey<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>Open the <strong>Questionnaire <\/strong>window of your survey in Snap Professional.<\/li>\n<li>Click <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-14116 size-full\" src=\"\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snap11\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/template.png\" alt=\"Editions and templates button\" width=\"16\" height=\"16\" \/>\u00a0to display the Editions and Style Templates dialog box.<\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>[New] <\/strong>to create a new edition. A New Survey Edition dialog appears.\n<div>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-15877\" src=\"\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snap11\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/new_tab_ed_hl2.png\" alt=\"new_tab_ed_hl2\" width=\"413\" height=\"299\" \/><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>Select <strong>Offline <\/strong>as the <strong>Publication Medium<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Select <strong>Tablet <\/strong>from the second drop-down list for a tablet edition (select <strong>PDA <\/strong>for a smartphone\/iPhone\/PDA edition etc).<\/li>\n<li>The edition <strong>Name <\/strong>will change to <strong>Offline:Tablet<\/strong>. Change this if you wish.<\/li>\n<li>Select the <strong>Load Style<\/strong> radio button. The correct default style for that edition will appear in the selection list.<\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>[OK]<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>The new edition of the questionnaire will have been added to the list on the Editions and Style Templates dialog.<\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>[OK] <\/strong>to return to the <strong>Questionnaire <\/strong>window.<\/li>\n<li>Select <strong>File|Publish<\/strong> to display the <strong>Publish Questionnaire<\/strong> dialog.<\/li>\n<li>Select <strong>Output <\/strong>in the left-hand column if it is not selected.<\/li>\n<li>Set the location where the survey is published and make a note of the location.\n<div>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-15864 size-full\" src=\"\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snap11\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/op_ipd_path_hl.png\" alt=\"QP: Output properties of offline surveys\" width=\"413\" height=\"299\" \/><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>Select <strong>Replies <\/strong>in the left-hand column.\n<div>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-15865 size-full\" src=\"\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snap11\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/rep_sync2.png\" alt=\"QP: Output properties of offline surve\" width=\"413\" height=\"299\" \/><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>Select the <strong>Sync with server<\/strong> radio button.<\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>[Publish] <\/strong>to publish the survey.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><a name=\"o29363\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Upload your offline survey to Snap WebHost<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>Log into your account on Snap WebHost. When you have logged in successfully, Snap WebHost displays the list of surveys in your account.<\/li>\n<li>Select <strong>Upload a new survey<\/strong> to display the <strong>Upload new survey<\/strong> dialog.\n<div>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-15869 size-full\" src=\"\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snap11\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/upload_surv2.png\" alt=\"Upload new survey\" width=\"420\" height=\"294\" \/><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>Browse to find the <code>.zip<\/code> file for the survey in the folder you specified as the <strong>Path<\/strong> when you published the survey.<\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>[Upload Archive]<\/strong> to upload the survey to Snap WebHost.<\/li>\n<li>When Snap WebHost has uploaded the survey, a message appears to confirm that the survey has been uploaded. Click the <strong>[Close]<\/strong> button. The list of surveys is updated, showing the new survey. Note that because it is not a Snap WebHost survey, you cannot click on it to examine it in Snap WebHost.\n<div>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-15872 size-full\" src=\"\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snap11\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/surv_ipad_moresp.png\" alt=\"Survey paper and iPad\" width=\"625\" height=\"177\" \/><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><a name=\"o29365\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Start the survey on the Android device<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>Start the <strong>Snap Mobile Anywhere<\/strong> app.\n<div>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-15756 size-full\" src=\"\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snap11\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/snap_any_logo6.png\" alt=\"Setup screen for offline interviewing\" width=\"85\" height=\"83\" \/><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>If an account has been set up, log in. If you have an Internet connection, <strong>Snap Mobile Anywhere<\/strong> automatically checks to see if you have the latest versions of the available surveys.\n<div>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-15873 size-full\" src=\"\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snap11\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/synced_surveys_cp.png\" alt=\"Setup screen for offline interviewing\" width=\"582\" height=\"324\" \/><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>If you have logged in to your account you can:\n<ul>\n<li>click the <strong>Options <\/strong>button <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-15878 size-full\" src=\"\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snap11\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/opt_logo2.png\" alt=\"IPAD: options button\" width=\"23\" height=\"21\" \/>\u00a0at the bottom left to display the configurable settings. You would use these if you are leaving the survey to run unattended.<\/li>\n<li>click the <strong>Statistics <\/strong>button <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-15879 size-full\" src=\"\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snap11\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/stats_logo.png\" alt=\"IPAD: statistics button\" width=\"16\" height=\"22\" \/>\u00a0on the bottom bar to see the statistics on how many questionnaires have been completed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Open a survey by selecting it.<\/li>\n<li>To return to the list, click <strong>[Back]<\/strong>. If you have partially completed the questionnaire, you will see a warning message. Click <strong>[OK]<\/strong> to proceed.\n<div>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-15862 size-full\" src=\"\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snap11\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/discard_mess.png\" alt=\"Setup screen for offline interviewing\" width=\"377\" height=\"243\" \/><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>To manually synchronise all surveys and responses with the server, click <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-15867 size-full\" src=\"\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snap11\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/sync_but.png\" alt=\"Setup screen for offline interviewing\" width=\"43\" height=\"35\" \/>. <strong>Snap Mobile Anywhere<\/strong> attempts to synchronise at ten minute intervals if Auto-synchronisation is enabled.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><a name=\"o29367\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Download the response data and import it into Snap Professional for analysis<\/h3>\n<p>When a survey is completed on the Android device, the completed response will be uploaded to the synchronisation service automatically.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Log into your account on Snap WebHost. There will now be a new link to download <strong>Respondent Data<\/strong>.\n<div>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-15871 size-full\" src=\"\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snap11\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/pad_resp2.png\" alt=\"Respondent Data link\" width=\"556\" height=\"207\" \/><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>Click the <strong>Respondent Data<\/strong> link. A window opens giving you the option of downloading your data or deleting it.\n<div>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-15870 size-full\" src=\"\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snap11\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/dnld_resp_ipad.png\" alt=\"Respondent Data download\" width=\"306\" height=\"288\" \/><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>Click the <strong>Download completes<\/strong> link to download the responses. Save the file to your computer and keep a note of the folder where you have stored it.<\/li>\n<li>It is a good idea to have a standard folder into which you download response data for each survey. Note that, by default, the file will be saved under the name of the survey and the time\/date of the download.<\/li>\n<li>Open the survey in Snap Professional.<\/li>\n<li>Open the Data Entry window <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-10218 size-full\" src=\"\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snap11\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/2569.gif\" alt=\"Data Entry window button\" width=\"26\" height=\"24\" \/>\u00a0for the survey and choose <strong>File | Import<\/strong>.
