To maximise the response rate to a survey, often a link for the survey is used in multiple locations online. For example you might have a link to your survey being used on your social media sites, as well as on your own website. This worksheet will show you how to track which link has been used to access the survey.<\/p>\n

Step 1: Add a new variable to capture where the response came from<\/h3>\n

  1. Open your survey<\/li>\n
  2. Add a new Single Choice variable at the top of the survey<\/li>\n
  3. Right click and open the Variable Properties dialogue<\/li>\n
  4. Name the variable as ‘site’\n

  5. Then press \u2018OK\u2019<\/li>\n
  6. Type ‘Site’ as the question text<\/li>\n
  7. Press tab on your keyboard to create a code label<\/li>\n
  8. Type ‘Facebook’<\/li>\n

  10. Type ‘Twitter’<\/li>\n
  11. Then press tab<\/li>\n
  12. Type ‘Website’\n

    Step 2: Publish and upload the survey to WebHost<\/h3>\n

    1. Complete the rest of the design of the survey, including any routing and formatting.<\/li>\n
    2. Then select \u2018File\u2019 followed by \u2018Publish\u2019.<\/li>\n
    3. Select the three dots next to the \u2018Path\u2019 field to choose a location to save the published survey.<\/li>\n
    4. If you want to test the survey, set the \u2018Method\u2019 to \u2018Publish with preview\u2019, if not select \u2018Publish without preview\u2019.<\/li>\n
    5. Then select \u2018Publish\u2019.\n

    6. Login to your WebHost account.<\/li>\n
    7. Select \u2018Upload new survey\u2019.<\/li>\n
    8. Browse to the location of the published zip and select it.<\/li>\n

      Step 3: Seeding the identifier into the survey<\/h3>\n

      1. Open the survey in WebHost.<\/li>\n
      2. Copy the URL for the survey and paste it into a text editor (such as Notepad or Microsoft Word).<\/li>\n
      3. Add onto the end of the URL: &site=
        \nSo if my survey URL is: https:\/\/wh.snapsurveys.com\/s.asp?k=11112675925
        \nIt will now look like this: https:\/\/wh.snapsurveys.com\/s.asp?k=11112675925&site=<\/li>\n
      4. You would then add in your site identifier onto the end. For example the link for Facebook would look like this: https:\/\/wh.snapsurveys.com\/s.asp?k=11112675925&site=1<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        This means you will have 3 separate links:<\/p>\n
