In a scenario where you have both a paper and a web edition of you survey, Snap WebHost will include the data that has been submitted online, whereas Snap Desktop will comprize the results from your paper survey. When you download\/import the online data, Snap Desktop will then include both paper and<\/em><\/strong> web results. However Snap WebHost will only<\/strong><\/em> include the data submitted online. To add the data from your paper surveys to Snap WebHost, you need to create an archive with all the data and reload it.<\/p>\n

Note:<\/strong> It is important to understand that this process overwrites the analysis data file online. Therefore always ensure Snap Desktop includes all<\/strong><\/em> the data submitted online and all <\/strong><\/em>the data from you paper surveys before creating the archive.<\/p>\n

Background<\/h2>\n

The basic Snap file structure consists of a metadata file (MDF) and a raw data file (RDF). The MDF file contains the survey variables and any saved analyses. When data is added (responses collected), a data file is created (RDF). Both files, which will have the same name, should reside in the same folder location. When a Snap survey is archived, both the MDF and the RDF are copied into one file called an ADF (Archive Data File) for the purpose of moving or sharing a survey. Including the data file (RDF) in the archive is optional however.<\/p>\n

    Step 2: Download data from Snap WebHost<\/h2>\n

    1. Log in to Snap WebHost and open the survey.<\/li>\n
    2. Pause the survey and ensure Live Interviews<\/strong> is showing as 0 (i.e. no respondents are currently completing the survey).\n

    4. Check the number of cases in Snap Desktop to ensure it includes both the paper and online data.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      Step 3: Create an archive of the survey (ADF)<\/h2>\n
        \n
      1. Open the Survey Overview window. (Click \"file-icon\" if it is not already open.)\n

      2. Select the survey you wish to archive. If it is not displayed, use [Browse]<\/strong> to find the folder containing it.<\/li>\n
      3. Click the Archive Survey button \"archive-survey-button\". The archive dialog box appears:\n

      4. Snap generates a file name based on the name of the survey with the .adf extension. The file will be stored where you are currently working. You can change the location and the file name by clicking the browse button.<\/li>\n
      5. Check the Include Raw Data<\/strong> box to include the case data (paper and web) in your archive.<\/li>\n
      6. Click [OK]<\/strong>. If the survey has already been archived to that location, you will get the following message:\n

        \nSelect the correct option. If you want to create a new archive file, click [No]<\/strong> and then choose a different location or filename.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n
      7. When the survey has archived correctly, Snap displays a confirmation message.

        Step 4: Reload the archived file to Snap WebHost<\/h2>\n

        1. Return to the Summary tab in Snap WebHost and click the \"reload-symbol\" symbol.\n

        2. Browse to the location of the archive file created in step 3 and click [Open]<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
        3. Click [Upload]<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
        4. Click [Close]<\/strong> when it has been confirmed that the survey has successfully uploaded.<\/li>\n
        5. In the Interviews section of the Summary tab, check that Snap WebHost now includes both paper and online data. Completes refers only to the data submitted online, whereas Cases refers to the data uploaded from the archived file (paper and online).\n

        6. Click [Restart questionnaire]<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

          Note: In a scenario where you are only hosting an online survey (not collecting paper responses), and you simply wish to add some new analyses to share on Snap WebHost, you would create an archive data file but without the data. Therefore you would not<\/strong><\/em> need to check \u2018Include Raw Data\u2019.<\/p>\n
