{"id":26438,"date":"2018-01-31T14:43:09","date_gmt":"2018-01-31T14:43:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snap11\/?page_id=26438"},"modified":"2023-05-12T13:41:58","modified_gmt":"2023-05-12T12:41:58","slug":"making-surveys-anonymous","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snap11\/worksheets\/making-surveys-anonymous\/","title":{"rendered":"Making surveys anonymous"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Snap offers you various options in terms of anonymising your survey data, from running anonymous surveys with no personal data submitted to WebHost, to being able to identify if a respondent has responded but not linking them to their response, to removing identifiers from the data after collection so that your further processing is on anonymised data only.<\/p>\n<p>If you want your survey to remain anonymous, here are the things you should do:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Don&#8217;t ask respondents for personally identifiable data such as email address, name etc.<\/li>\n<li>Don&#8217;t add a database of respondents to your survey in Snap<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To deploy your survey you can:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Put the link to the survey in places where your respondents will have access to it, for example your website, intranet or on posters<\/li>\n<li>Print a paper version and leave it in relevant places<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>How to find the link for your survey:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Log in to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/login\/\">Snap WebHost<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Click on your survey<\/li>\n<li>You will find the URL of your survey in the Summary tab, this can be inserted into webpages as an hyperlink or on printed material as a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/resources\/free-qr-code-generator\/\">QR code<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-26448 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snap11\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/survey_url-e1517411412570.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"564\" height=\"273\"><\/p>\n<p>If you want to deploy a survey where you contact a respondent in your database you have three options:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Circulate the link to your survey using your own email system &#8211; in this case, no personal data is uploaded to Snap WebHost<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snap11\/worksheets\/sending-an-email-that-doesnt-identify-the-respondent\/\">Anonymisation in Surveys \u2013 Sending an email that doesn\u2019t identify the respondent<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snap11\/worksheets\/sending-an-email-that-includes-a-unique-respondent-identifier\/\">Anonymisation in Surveys \u2013 Sending an email that includes a unique respondent identifier<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Finally, if you want to anonymise your survey after carrying it out, you can remove personal data from the data file. As explained in our Privacy Policy (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/survey-software\/privacy-policy-uk\/\">https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/survey-software\/privacy-policy-uk\/<\/a><\/em><em> ) Snap Surveys separately records respondent IP addresses and other technical information in its backend logs, which it deletes after no longer than 6 months.
