That\u2019s where a chart <em>showing only the positive responses<\/em> can be useful.<\/p>\n<p>Neutral and negative categories are excluded, leaving only the positive responses &#8211; enabling quick comparison between different questions or subgroups.<\/p>\n<p>This worksheet shows how to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Recategorise responses as &#8216;Positive&#8217;, &#8216;Neutral&#8217; or &#8216;Negative&#8217;<\/li>\n<li>Create a horizontal bar chart using the new categories<\/li>\n<li>Exclude &#8216;Neutral&#8217; and &#8216;Negative&#8217; categories, leaving only the &#8216;Positive&#8217; category<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Step 1: Recategorise responses as &#8216;Positive&#8217;, &#8216;Neutral&#8217; or &#8216;Negative&#8217;<\/h3>\n<p>In this example, participants rate aspects of service on a 5 point scale ranging from &#8216;Very Good&#8217; to &#8216;Very Poor&#8217;. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snap11\/transforming-and-recategorising-data\/\">Derived Variables<\/a> are used to sort \u2018Very Good\u2019 and \u2018Good\u2019 responses into a new \u2018Positive\u2019 category,\u00a0&#8216;OK&#8217; responses into a new \u2018Neutral\u2019 category, and\u00a0&#8216;Poor&#8217; and &#8216;Very Poor&#8217; responses into a new &#8216;Negative&#8217; category.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Click\u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-22698\" src=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snap11\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/VariablesButton.png\" alt=\"VariablesButton\" width=\"24\" height=\"22\" \/>\u00a0to display the\u00a0Variables Window.<\/li>\n<li>Click\u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-22699\" src=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snap11\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/Plus.png\" alt=\"Plus\" width=\"24\" height=\"22\" \/>\u00a0to add a new variable.<\/li>\n<li>Specify the\u00a0Variable details as follows:<br \/>\n<strong>Name:<\/strong>\u00a0VQ8a<br \/>\n<strong>Label:<\/strong> Quality of product (this will be displayed on the chart)<br \/>\n<strong>Type:<\/strong> Derived (the variable will derive its data from other existing variables)<br \/>\n<strong>Response:<\/strong> Single (each respondent will only fall into one of the new codes)<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-22878 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snap11\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/VQ8a-1.png\" width=\"596\" height=\"435\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snap11\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/VQ8a-1.png 596w, https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snap11\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/VQ8a-1-150x109.png 150w, https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snap11\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/VQ8a-1-500x365.png 500w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 596px) 100vw, 596px\" \/><\/li>\n<li>Specify in the \u2018Value\u2019 column, how counts should be redistributed among the new categories. This is achieved using the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/help\/#17712\">Chart Designer<\/a>.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Open your analysis window if it is not already open.<\/li>\n<li>Double-click the &#8216;<strong>Negative<\/strong>&#8216; bar to open the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/help\/#17712\">Chart Designer<\/a>.
