It assumes that you have a questionnaire with four questions (shown below) and shows you how to create a single table combining the data from the four questions.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.snapsurveys.com\/support-snap11\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/4_quest.png\" alt=\"QW: crocodile survey 3 and 4 no numbers\" width=\"414\" height=\"176\" align=\"bottom\" border=\"0\" hspace=\"2\" vspace=\"2\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"warning\">This worksheet only covers category variables (variables with coded answers).<\/p>\n<section>\n<h3>Background<\/h3>\n<p>Snap allows you to create cross-tabs and charts from category variables where one variable&#8217;s codes provide the columns and another variable&#8217;s codes provide the rows. It is possible to combine category variables in your analysis.<\/p>\n<div class=\"read-more-content hide\" style=\"display: none;\">\n<p>There are three ways of combining category variables in a cross-tab in Snap.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Combining variables (<b>WITH<\/b>)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 20px;\">All the codes are treated as if they belonged to a single variable, with one column per code<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Combining all possible codes (<b>PER<\/b>)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 20px;\">Every combination of codes available between the variables is given a column<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Combining variables with identical codes logically so you can see if either or both codes have been selected<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 20px;\">The codes can be logically <b>AND<\/b>ed together so you get a count if both codes have been selected<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 20px;\">The codes can be logically <b>OR<\/b>ed together so you get a count if either code has been selected<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 20px;\">This is not dealt with in this worksheet<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><a class=\"button radius read-more-show\" style=\"display: inline-block;\">See more \u2193<\/a><a class=\"button radius read-more-hide hide\">Hide this content \u2191<\/a><\/p>\n<\/section>\n<section>\n<h3>Step 1: Creating a simple cross-tab and dealing with missing responses<\/h3>\n<p>This shows you how to create four simple cross-tabs showing people&#8217;s liking for cheese and chocolate by age and gender and then shows how to combine them into a single table. It also discusses missing answers. If you add percent scores to your cross-tabs, you need to be clear if you are displaying a percentage of all those who took the survey or all those who answered the question. You can include or exclude respondents who have not answered a question.<\/p>\n<div class=\"read-more-content hide\" style=\"display: none;\">\n<p>The survey example had 100 respondents. Put <b>Q1 WITH Q2<\/b> into the <span class=\"keyword\">Analysis<\/span> field. This puts the response counts to the cheese and chocolate questions in the table.<\/li>\n<li>Put <b>Q3 PER Q4<\/b> in the <span class=\"keyword\">Break<\/span> field. This puts every possible combination of the age and gender questions in the table as a separate column.<\/li>\n<li>Check <span class=\"keyword\">Base Percents<\/span>.
