Using the email editor to create messages

Insertable email tags

Tag

Description

ContactEmail

The email address of the survey manager (as appears in the Contact section of the Setup tab).

ContactName

The name of the survey manager (as given in the Contact section of the Setup tab).

ContactPhone

The telephone number of the survey manager (as per the Contact section of the Setup tab).

OptOut

The link the respondent clicks on if they want to be removed from the survey invite list. Snap WebHost will automatically ensure that they receive no more email reminders for this particular survey. It is up to you to ensure that they are removed from other surveys if that is their wish.

It is part of the Snap WebHost subscription service terms of use that you include an opt out link in all survey invites and reminders (whether sending the emails through WebHost or another mail system). SurveyLink

The link the respondent clicks on to be routed to the questionnaire. If logins are used, they will be presented with the initial questionnaire login page.

SurveyLinkAuto

The link the respondent clicks on to be routed direct to the body of the questionnaire. If logins are used the respondent will be logged in automatically. Assuming they are still eligible to partake in the survey, they will be presented with the first main page of the questionnaire.

SurveyTitle

The title of the survey.

email

The respondent's email address (if any).

password

The respondent's password (if any).

username

The respondent's user name (if any).

If you hover the cursor over a button, you will see a brief description of its function. A short further explanation is given below of some of the functions

SWH: text alignment button

Changes selected text to the specified format. Within the selection, new text will be entered in the specified format

Changes selected text to the alignment you click on

SWH: list style buttons

Changes selected paragraph(s) to a numbered or bulleted list, or indents them

SWH: link button

Apply a link to the selected text. Opens a pane for you to enter any acceptable HTML link (normally http:// web address or mailto: email address). You can specify if the link opens in another window and what ALT text appears. If there is a problem applying a link, use the SWH: clear formatting button button to remove formatting before applying a link.

Insert an image. The image must be in the published zip file you have uploaded or already be on the internet. You can specify the image size in pixels. The description gives the ALT text (displayed if you place your mouse over the image or if the image is not available).

Opens a pane to enter raw HTML code. Note that Snap does not support or provide instruction on writing HTML.

Select a font to apply to the selected text

Select an HTML font-size to apply to the selected text

Insert an active tag into the email (e.g. a link to the survey or a database field)
