Analysing Several Questions by a Standard Break
Read on to find out how to analyse several questions without having to open up each individual table of charts. This method will save you valuable time conducting analysis through using one standard break.
The following example uses the Crocodile Restaurant Survey. A Batch is created to tabulate several questions against a break of "Gender". This can be accomplished by setting up a Batch with only one instruction.
A Filter can be specified in the instruction to produce multiple sets of tables; for example, a set of tables may be required for each age group.
Step By Step

to display the Batches Window.

to create a new batch, and specify the batch details as follows:
- Name: BT1 (Snap will automatically allocate this)
- Label: Analysis of all questions by gender
- Indexing: On (will produce a list of tables produced at the end of the batch print).
- Instructions: 1
- Filter: Leave blank to include all cases.
Step 3
Highlight the only instruction in the Instruction List and click 
to display a Batch Instruction dialog box. Alternatively double click on the batch instruction.
Step 4
Specify the Instruction Details as follows:
- Operation: Produce Results
- Title: Analysis by gender
- Form: Table
- Analysis: Q2,Q4,Q6a TO Q6e,Q9
- Break: Q10
Note that any Literal, Date and Quantity questions should be excluded.
If the Filter is left blank, all cases will be included. Alternatively, specify a Filter as a logical formula or a variable name. If a variable name is specified then a set of tables will be produced for each code value of that variable. For example if the Filter is specified as Q9, a set of tables will be produced for all values of Q9. An entire set of tables for Q9=1 would be followed by a set of tables Q9=2, and so on.
Select any other required options for the tables from Cells and Options by clicking on them.
Save the instruction by closing the window or by pressing Enter.

Save the batch by clicking

To run Batch 1, highlight it in the Batches Window and click 
to run.
Step 7
A Batch Execution dialog box will be displayed, enabling a range of instruction numbers to be specified. You have the option to Check the batch or Execute it. See the Executing a Batch section for further details of the latter. You may also select the Produce a Contact Sheet option, which will fit several tables or charts on a single page. If the Range of Instructions is left empty, all instructions in the batch will be run.
This single batch instruction will create 8 separate tables: Q2, Q4, Q6a, Q6b, Q6c, Q6d, Q6e, Q9 each tabulated against the Break of Q10.
If you do not specify any Break variable(s) the table produced will be a frequency table unless specified otherwise (e.g. grid, count).
