Scanned Image Data Reports

Users with Snap's optional Scanning Module have the facility to print Scanned Image Data Reports of data that has not yet been detected or keyed in. Consequently, Literal Response questions do not need to be keyed or coded prior to analysis. This is achieved by selecting the Scanned Questionnaire radio button which creates a report read from the scanned image, as distinct from Summary, taken from a survey's data (.rdf) file. All tick boxes below the radio buttons listed in the style section of the Data Report dialog box are intuitively labelled and so require no further explanation.

This is only possible if you have retained the image files created by the scanning process. You will only see a Data Report dialog box in the format shown below when you have turned on the Scanning Module from within the Tailor Data Entry dialog box.

Step By Step

Step 1

Open the Data Window by clicking on data icon.

Step 2

Click on printer icon to access the Data Report dialog box.

Step 3

Enter a title, if required, and the variable name, i.e. Q8, from the Content field.

You can only use a variable as a filter if the data is stored, e.g. if you have not keyed in a Literal Response question and it only exists as an image in Snap. Without having been interpreted successfully by the program, you will be unable to filter it.

Step 4

Select Scanned Questionnaire in the Style section and any other options you may require within the section.

  • Show Boxes Only: no question text is included in the report
  • Remove Blank Space: reduces any space around an answer image
  • Show Case Number: the case number is displayed on the report
  • Two Columns: the replies are displayed in two columns

Step 6

Click on OK and a list containing the images for that variable will be printed out.
