The Reference Window - copying Questions from SurveyPaks or other Surveys into your Questionnaire
Questions can be simply and easily copied from other Snap surveys or from a Snap SurveyPak into a questionnaire by using the Reference Window. Through the reference window you have the facility to ‘drag and drop’ questions from either a SurveyPak or from a previously designed survey into your own questionnaire.
Snap SurveyPaks consist of pre-assembled collections of questions. With every edition of Snap is the Demographics and Lifestyles SurveyPak. The Demographics and Lifestyles SurveyPak contains 66 topics and over 600 questions. Other SurveyPaks available include Local Government, Sport & Leisure, Travel & Tourism, Customer Satisfaction, Human Resources, Housing and Public Health and Clinical Audit.
You can also access surveys that you have already created. You can use the reference window to copy individual questions and headings from those surveys into the questionnaire on your current project. Sometimes, when you open the Reference Window your surveys may not always be visible. Click on the 
Tailor button and enter a tick in the box beside Surveys. This will allow you to view all previously designed surveys.
The example below explains how to insert a question from the Demographics and Lifestyles SurveyPak into a questionnaire.
Step By Step
Step 1
Ensuring that your Questionnaire window is open, select the Reference button from the Snap toolbar.
Step 2
Maximise the Reference window so that your Surveys/SurveyPaks are visible.
Step 3
With all Surveys/SurveyPaks in view, double click the desired option e.g. Demographics and Lifestyles.
Step 4
All available topics will be displayed. Use the keys on your keyboard to scroll up and down through the different categories.
Step 5
Double click a category e.g. Personal Information; Snap will display the categories in this section.
Step 6
Double click a label e.g. Gender; the full question text will be displayed in the lower half of the screen. Scroll through until you find the required question.
Step 7
Use the restore option in the top right hand corner of your screen so that the Reference window is displayed alongside the Questionnaire window. Click and drag on the title bar of the Questionnaire window to move it to the right of the screen.
Step 8
With the question highlighted in the Reference window hold down the left mouse button. Drag the question to the correct location. As the mouse pointer is dragged over the questionnaire it will change from to one of the following three symbols:
Step 9
Means: Insert the new question before this question.
Means: Replace current question with the new one.
Means: Insert the new question after this question.
Step 10
When the mouse button is released the new question will be dropped in the position indicated.
