Course outline

Objectives

Attending this course will enable the delegate to:

  • Create basic paper questionnaires
  • Perform and check data entry
  • Create results, tables and charts
  • Export results into Word

Audience

This course has been designed for new users to Snap who are unfamiliar with the Snap survey design process. It is tailored for users who will be conducting paper surveys and capturing data by manual data entry. The training combines trainer-led instruction and demonstration with delegate exercises to reinforce learning.

N.B. This course does not cover any Internet content, but is the standard pre-requisite for attending the Internet Surveys Level 2 course.

Prerequisites

All Snap training courses require delegates to be familiar with the use of standard windows applications.

  • Snap windows and tool bars

Introduction to Questionnaire Design

  • Creating the questionnaire
  • Entering the questions
  • Dragging and dropping questions from the reference window / Survey Paks
  • Using questionnaire navigation and editing the commands
  • Creating multiple editions
  • Applying a style template

Data Entry Preparation

  • Selecting response types for every question
  • Setting data and box length for “open“ questions
  • Directing respondents to relevant questions using Routing rules
  • Printing the questionnaire

Data Entry

  • The 3 modes of Data Entry
  • Entering a test case
  • Entering new cases in interview mode
  • Spellchecking cases

Introduction to Analysis

  • Producing a summary analysis of the entire questionnaire
  • Using filters to select subjects of cases
  • Using counts and percentages
  • Creating basic results tables and charts
  • Copying tables and charts into MS Word
  • Printing and exporting literal responses
