Tips on conducting staff surveys
When designed and executed correctly, staff surveys can provide invaluable information to any organisation and act as an effective performance management tool. The benefits of finding out your employees’ views and acting on them are endless and include improving staff retention and increasing productivity, as well as providing a benchmark to measure improvement.
However, there can be pitfalls so the following pointers are worth considering.
Worksheet on using slider controls in electronic questionnaires
The Slider program is a new addition to the SurveyPlus suite of programs available in the latest build 11 of Snap 9. It enables you to add slider controls to single-response and quantity questions for all forms of web and offline questionnaires. This worksheet shows you how.
Have your say! – Survey results
Thank you to everyone who took part in our ‘Have your say!’ survey over the past few months.
After collating and analysing the results, the most common theme is that you would like more hints and tips on using Snap. Therefore from next month we will replace the ‘Statistic of the month’ with ‘Tip of the month’, which will highlight useful tips on how to use your survey software. We will also endeavour to incorporate more useful tips and knowledge articles on how to use Snap in the future.

We introduce the new Snap recruits
The Snap team is ever expanding! Both our UK and US offices have had a recent increase in employees so we would like to introduce you to the following people:
Nan Graves and Katy Eastep recently joined the US office in Portsmouth, NH. Nan works in the Training/HelpDesk department so is on the end of the phone to help with your technical enquiries. She has been an instructor in colleges since 2003 so has proven ability in teaching complex ideas and using various pieces of software. Katy works in SurveyShop, Snap’s outsourcing department and comes from a background in Arts and Business Admin with a Marketing emphasis.
We also have a new recruit within our SurveyShop division in the UK. Ed Hockey recently joined us from Bath & North East Somerset Council where he worked as a Market Research Co-ordinator leading on corporate research and supporting council departments in undertaking research and consultation. The projects he undertook included the staff survey (where response rates nearly doubled), the statutory BVPI surveys, the citizens’ panel and various other ad-hoc and continuous initiatives.
We hope you will join us in welcoming them to the Snap team.
Helping dreams come true
James Cant and Debra Fry, who are part of our UK Snap team, will be taking part in this year’s Bristol Half Marathon on 9th September 2007. They will be running 13.1 miles to raise money for Dreams Come True, a charity that makes the dreams of terminally or seriously ill children become a reality. No dream is too big or too small and the only limit is the child's imagination. To show your support and make a donation visit www.justgiving.com/bristol2007. For more information on the charity of their choice go to http://www.dctc.org.uk.
