Snap Surveys as a company continues to grow, not only in size but also in the range of products and services that we are offering the survey community. Our software team has been busy developing Snap to reflect both changes in technology as well as the changing requirements of you, our users.

Snap 9 desktop incorporates major improvements in functionality, ease-of-use and performance. We have focused on the need to interview on a choice of platforms with the same functionality on each and have added multi-language capability.

To correspond with this new release, we have launched two exciting new products, SnapOnline, an online survey response management and analysis tool and Snap Mobile Interviewer for mobile data collection.

The main user development goals for Snap 9 were focused on:

  • building flexible interviewing platforms
  • new time-response variables
  • improved scanning performance
  • extra statistical analysis
  • provision of online services and software products for survey response management and analysis

Main Features and Enhancements

The following is a selection of the new features that will simplify and enhance your survey work:

Questionnaire Design

To give you further flexibility and to reduce design time, we have introduced multi-mode functionality into Snap 9. This allows the same questionnaire to be designed and prepared for different publication modes concurrently such as web, paper, PDA or Kiosk. A spelling or format change made in one questionnaire will be automatically accommodated in the others, saving you valuable time in the construction stage.

Multi-language functionality has been added so that the same questionnaire can now be produced for different languages concurrently.

New ‘time’ questions enable times of day to be recorded, compared and calculated.

Additionally, online surveys can now be designed to look a lot more sophisticated using new features such as editable drop-down answer lists.

Web & PDA surveys

Web and PDA surveys have just got a whole lot slicker. There are several exciting new features that are designed to give you more control and significantly improve the respondent experience.

One of these being answer masks on multi-choice questions, which makes the survey more reader friendly by excluding or only including answers given to any number of previous questions.

If you need to increase confidentiality e.g. on internal employee surveys, you can now provide respondents with a login facility, which provides enhanced security.

Another useful feature added is in the form of patterns for open-ended questions. This allows the validation of questions against preset patterns such as postcode, telephone numbers etc, plus users will be able to build their own.

Scanning

The scanning module is now a lot more intuitive with improved Optical Character Recognition and patterns to increase the recognition of hand-printed text responses.

Results Analysis

For all our statisticians out there, we have enhanced and improved the statistical capability in Snap to include the option of Tukey’s correction for t-Test results and introduced Mann-Whitney U-test and medians as an alternative for the T-test and means.

NEW – Snap WebHost

This new offering, which could revolutionise your survey work, allows you to publish your surveys to a website and analyse your results online. Snap WebHost provides a central point from which surveys can be administered, giving you the researcher, total control.

One of the many benefits is that data and analyses can be created and shared between internal and external stakeholders online and in real-time. Usernames and passwords can be issued to provide security and access restrictions.

Responses and reminders can be managed with little effort by setting up interviewing schedules that can run automatically.

You have the ability to integrate with existing contact databases so that questions can be pre-populated with data. This tool is useful for creating and maintaining client profiles, data cleansing, creating and managing online survey panels.

NEW – Snap Mobile Interviewer Module

Interviewing in the field has never been easier with all the new data collection tools that are now available. This new module allows you to reach your respondents using PDAs, Tablet PCs, Kiosks, Laptop PCs or Mobile Phones.

Comprehensive routing and masking techniques improve the efficiency of the interview process and data accuracy is significantly increased. Replies are returned to Snap via email or a file so there is no need to input replies and little or no data cleaning is required.
