Dove Takes Snap Under Its Wing

Boston US-based Dove Consulting is an organizational and management consulting firm with a difference. One of its major strengths is its industry expertise, and the primary research it conducts to support that expertise. Dove uses Snap software to conduct its survey work in the fields of consumer broadband, financial services, consumer-packaged goods, and government.

Dove and Snap Surveys US recently linked up to work on a real time "Industry Trivia Quiz Game" tool that was successfully used at a national conference as a fun way to showcase its research findings and industry expertise.

Designed in Snap and run on a laptop computer offline, the tool resembled a quiz game that presented participants with multiple-choice questions that would each lead to the answer accompanied by an explanation. The 'quiz' was demonstrated during the cocktail evening of the conference and was very well received by attendees. The quiz is now hosted on their website and can be viewed online at www.e-dove.com.

Dove has also had great success using Snap for other recent projects, including a national consumer payment preferences survey conducted in partnership with the American Bankers Association, a paper-based consumer survey for a major brewery that was conducted at various on-site locations in New York, Dallas, and Los Angeles, as well as another online survey on high definition television for a leading cable operator. Dove has also used Snap to streamline its internal processes, using it to design forms for data entry of telephone interviews, etc.

Dove research analysts, Kristin Rowell, Melissa Fox and Joe Kiely use Snap software to design, input data and analyze their surveys. They believe it has increased their productivity and reduced the time involved in conducting and annualizing surveys.

Melissa Fox said, "We find Snap to be more user-friendly and straight forward than other products. Its ability to handle both paper and web surveys is really important to us."

Before the firm adopted Snap as its main survey tool, its survey process was considered to be overly cumbersome and time-consuming. "We had to design questionnaires in Word and then programme them into our data software. Snap has changed all that - it's a huge time saver."

One feature the analysts find particularly useful is the software's ability to upload and monitor survey responses as they are received. "Snap allows us to monitor the demographic profile of responses to our surveys; we use this information to take action to ensure we achieve a balanced sample."

Dove has recently upgraded to Snap 7 and is now considering the add-ons available and the ToolKit compilation. The firm continues to accumulate industry knowledge through its comprehensive survey research.
